On Wednesday 24 June 2026, Business SJ was proud to take part in an exciting event held at the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale’s brand new Administration Centre in Byford.
The Shire’s new office in the heart of Byford provides a customer service point that’s closer to a growing number of local businesses and residents. To mark the occasion, Business SJ members, local business owners and the wider community were invited to a relaxed networking sundowner.
The event ran from 6pm to 7:30pm, though people arrived well before the start and many stayed long after it wrapped up. The evening featured a handful of brief speeches, words of encouragement and acknowledgment, good food, casual networking, and even an icebreaker game to get people talking. Business SJ’s chairman, Heath Sikkema, spoke about the group’s vision, encouraging local business owners and entrepreneurs to get involved and make the most of the networking opportunities Business SJ offers.
Shire President Rob Coales shared how his team is working to support the Shire’s growing community and its many local businesses. Key Shire staff were introduced, and there was plenty of casual networking throughout the evening. Attendees included Shire councillors from all wards, along with representatives from the Shire’s economic development, building, planning, health and customer service teams. Rob Coales officially opened the new Administration Centre with a ribbon-cutting photo opportunity alongside Business SJ chairman Heath Sikkema.
Business SJ is a not-for-profit, volunteer-run group offering monthly business networking events across Byford, Jarrahdale and surrounding areas. The Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale’s main offices remain in Mundijong, but the newly opened Administration Centre in Byford is located at Shop 1, Byford Village Shopping Mall, 20 Abernethy Road, Byford (In the same centre as Coles, at the back, past Priceline).
